The seventeenth word of verse (8:34) is a form VIII masculine plural active participle and is in the nominative case (مرفوع). The active participle's triliteral root is wāw qāf yā (و ق ي).

Verse (8:34)

The analysis above refers to the 34th verse of chapter 8 (sūrat l-anfāl):

Sahih International: But why should Allah not punish them while they obstruct [people] from al-Masjid al- îaram and they were not [fit to be] its guardians? Its [true] guardians are not but the righteous, but most of them do not know.
