Verse (83:16), Word 3 - Quranic Grammar


The third word of verse (83:16) is divided into 2 morphological segments. An emphatic prefix and active participle. The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "surely" or "indeed" and is used to add emphasis. The active participle is masculine plural and is in the nominative case (مرفوع). The active participle's triliteral root is ṣād lām yā (ص ل ي).

This too is correctly tagged here. In Possessive phrases the Noon of sound plural is dropped. It is first Noun of genitive construction-مضاف
