Verse (7:99), Word 1 - Quranic Grammar

The first word of verse (7:99) is divided into 4 morphological segments. An interrogative alif, conjunction, verb and subject pronoun. The prefixed alif is an interrogative particle used to form a question and is usually translated as "is", "are", or "do". The prefixed conjunction fa is usually translated as "and". The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is hamza mīm nūn (أ م ن). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.
