Verse (7:51), Word 17 - Quranic Grammar

The seventeenth word of verse (7:51) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A verb and subject pronoun. The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is kāf wāw nūn (ك و ن). The verb (كان) belongs to a special group of words known as kāna and her sisters (كان واخواتها). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.

The analysis above refers to the 51st verse of chapter 7 (sūrat l-aʿrāf):

Sahih International: Who took their religion as distraction and amusement and whom the worldly life deluded." So today We will forget them just as they forgot the meeting of this Day of theirs and for having rejected Our verses.
