Verse (7:35), Word 2 - Quranic Grammar

__

The second word of verse (7:35) is a masculine proper noun and is in the genitive case (مجرور). The case marker is a fatḥah instead of a kasrah because the proper noun is a diptote (ممنوع من الصرف).

Chapter (7) sūrat l-aʿrāf (The Heights)

(7:35:2)
ādama
(of) Adam!
PN – genitive masculine proper noun → Adam اسم علم مجرور بالفتحة بدلاً من الكسرة لأنه ممنوع من الصرف

Verse (7:35)

The analysis above refers to the 35th verse of chapter 7 (sūrat l-aʿrāf):

Sahih International: O children of Adam, if there come to you messengers from among you relating to you My verses, then whoever fears Allah and reforms - there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.
