Verse (7:28), Word 8 - Quranic Grammar

The eighth word of verse (7:28) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A resumption particle and proper noun. The connective particle wa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The proper noun is in the nominative case (مرفوع). Sahih International: And when they commit an immorality, they say, "We found our fathers doing it, and Allah has ordered us to do it." Say, "Indeed, Allah does not order immorality. Do you say about Allah that which you do not know?"
