Verse (7:189), Word 27 - Quranic Grammar

The 27th word of verse (7:189) is divided into 3 morphological segments. An emphatic prefix, verb and emphatic suffix. The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "surely" or "indeed" and is used to add emphasis. The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is first person plural and is in the indicative mood (مرفوع). The verb's triliteral root is kāf wāw nūn (ك و ن). The verb (نكون) belongs to a special group of words known as kāna and her sisters (كان واخواتها). The suffixed emphatic particle is known as the nūn of emphasis (نون التوكيد).

Sahih International: It is He who created you from one soul and created from it its mate that he might dwell in security with her. And when he covers her, she carries a light burden and continues therein. And when it becomes heavy, they both invoke Allah , their Lord, "If You should give us a good [child], we will surely be among the grateful."
