Verse (7:17), Word 2 - Quranic Grammar

__

The second word of verse (7:17) is divided into 3 morphological segments. An emphatic prefix, verb and object pronoun. The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "surely" or "indeed" and is used to add emphasis. The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is second person masculine singular and is in the indicative mood (مرفوع). The verb's triliteral root is hamza tā yā (أ ت ي). The attached object pronoun is third person masculine plural.

Firstly, this should be labelled as V – 1st person singular imperfect verb. Secondly, the nun suffix should be labelled EMPH (i.e. emphatic nun) and coloured purple as well.
