Verse (7:179), Word 1 - Quranic Grammar

The first word of verse (7:179) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A resumption particle, emphatic prefix and particle of certainty. The connective particle wa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "surely" or "indeed" and is used to add emphasis.

Sahih International: And We have certainly created for Hell many of the jinn and mankind. They have hearts with which they do not understand, they have eyes with which they do not see, and they have ears with which they do not hear. Those are like livestock; rather, they are more astray. It is they who are the heedless.
