Verse (7:149), Word 16 - Quranic Grammar

__

The sixteenth word of verse (7:149) is divided into 3 morphological segments. An emphatic prefix, verb and emphatic suffix. The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "surely" or "indeed" and is used to add emphasis. The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is first person plural and is in the indicative mood (مرفوع). The verb's triliteral root is kāf wāw nūn (ك و ن). The verb (نكون) belongs to a special group of words known as kāna and her sisters (كان واخواتها). The suffixed emphatic particle is known as the nūn of emphasis (نون التوكيد).

The laam labelled as emphatic prefix laam, to me seems not to emphasise rather it is the result of the previous condition (la in) 'If our Lord does not...[then] we will...' Is there a way we can label it as ' harf jawab ash- Shart' [resultative particle]? I know syntactically the whole sentence/clause is also 'Jawab' but this letter laam is more than emphatic it presents the result.

wallahu a'alam
