Verse (71:28), Word 4 - Quranic Grammar

The fourth word of verse (71:28) is divided into 4 morphological segments. A conjunction, preposition, noun and possessive pronoun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The prefixed preposition lām is usually translated as "for". The noun is masculine dual and is in the genitive case (مجرور). The noun's triliteral root is wāw lām dāl (و ل د). The attached possessive pronoun is first person singular. Together the segments form a preposition phrase known as jār wa majrūr (جار ومجرور).
