Verse (6:63), Word 9 - Quranic Grammar


The ninth word of verse (6:63) is an indefinite form V masculine verbal noun and is in the accusative case (منصوب). The verbal noun's triliteral root is ḍād rā ʿayn (ض ر ع).

Sahih International: Say, "Who rescues you from the darknesses of the land and sea [when] you call upon Him imploring [aloud] and privately, 'If He should save us from this [crisis], we will surely be among the thankful.' "

Could we perhaps add here and on the next word /khufyatan/ that these words are: circumstantial accusative since they describe the state in which these prayers will be made?

The fact that they are both indefininte and accusative is characteristic of the haal, so can we tag it as:

N- circumstantial accusative masculine indefinite verbal noun
