Verse (6:30), Word 18 - Quranic Grammar

The eighteenth word of verse (6:30) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A verb and subject pronoun. The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is second person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is kāf wāw nūn (ك و ن). The verb (كان) belongs to a special group of words known as kāna and her sisters (كان واخواتها). The suffix (التاء) is an attached subject pronoun.

Sahih International: If you could but see when they will be made to stand before their Lord. He will say, "Is this not the truth?" They will say, "Yes, by our Lord." He will [then] say, "So taste the punishment because you used to disbelieve."
