Verse (63:6), Word 3 - Quranic Grammar


The third word of verse (63:6) is divided into 3 morphological segments. An equalization particle, verb and subject pronoun. The prefixed alif indicates equality and is usually translated as "whether". The form X perfect verb (فعل ماض) is second person masculine singular. The verb's triliteral root is ghayn fā rā (غ ف ر). Sahih International: It is all the same for them whether you ask forgiveness for them or do not ask forgiveness for them; never will Allah forgive them. Indeed, Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people.
