Verse (5:68), Word 26 - Quranic Grammar

The 26th word of verse (5:68) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A resumption particle and prohibition particle. The connective particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The prohibition particle (حرف نهي) is used to form a negative imperative and places the following verb into the jussive mood (مجزوم).

Verse (5:68)

The analysis above refers to the 68th verse of chapter 5 (sūrat l-māidah):

Sahih International: Say, "O People of the Scripture, you are [standing] on nothing until you uphold [the law of] the Torah, the Gospel, and what has been revealed to you from your Lord." And that which has been revealed to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in transgression and disbelief. So do not grieve over the disbelieving people.
