Verse (5:29), Word 7 - Quranic Grammar

The seventh word of verse (5:29) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A conjunction and verb. The prefixed conjunction fa is usually translated as "and". The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is second person masculine singular and is in the subjunctive mood (منصوب). The verb's triliteral root is kāf wāw nūn (ك و ن). The verb (كان) belongs to a special group of words known as kāna and her sisters (كان واخواتها).
