Verse (57:25), Word 19 - Quranic Grammar

The nineteenth word of verse (57:25) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A conjunction, particle of purpose and verb. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The prefixed particle lām is used to indicate the purpose of an action and makes the following verb subjunctive. The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person masculine singular and is in the subjunctive mood (منصوب). The verb's triliteral root is ʿayn lām mīm (ع ل م).

Verse (57:25)

The analysis above refers to the 25th verse of chapter 57 (sūrat l-ḥadīd):

Sahih International: We have already sent Our messengers with clear evidences and sent down with them the Scripture and the balance that the people may maintain [their affairs] in justice. And We sent down iron, wherein is great military might and benefits for the people, and so that Allah may make evident those who support Him and His messengers unseen. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might.
