Verse (57:13), Word 16 - Quranic Grammar

The sixteenth word of verse (57:13) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A resumption particle and verb. The connective particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The passive perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine singular. The verb's triliteral root is ḍād rā bā (ض ر ب).

Verse (57:13)

The analysis above refers to the thirteenth verse of chapter 57 (sūrat l-ḥadīd):

Sahih International: On the [same] Day the hypocrite men and hypocrite women will say to those who believed, "Wait for us that we may acquire some of your light." It will be said, "Go back behind you and seek light." And a wall will be placed between them with a door, its interior containing mercy, but on the outside of it is torment.
