Verse (54:17), Word 4 - Quranic Grammar

__

The fourth word of verse (54:17) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A preposition and verbal noun. The prefixed preposition lām is usually translated as "for". The verbal noun is masculine and is in the genitive case (مجرور). The verbal noun's triliteral root is dhāl kāf rā (ذ ك ر). Together the segments form a preposition phrase known as jār wa majrūr (جار ومجرور).
