Verse (4:9), Word 13 - Quranic Grammar

The thirteenth word of verse (4:9) is divided into 4 morphological segments. A conjunction, imperative particle, verb and subject pronoun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "let" and is used to form an imperative construction. The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person masculine plural and is in the jussive mood (مجزوم). The verb's triliteral root is qāf wāw lām (ق و ل). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.

Verse (4:9)

The analysis above refers to the ninth verse of chapter 4 (sūrat l-nisāa):

Sahih International: And let those [executors and guardians] fear [injustice] as if they [themselves] had left weak offspring behind and feared for them. So let them fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice.
