Verse (4:81), Word 1 - Quranic Grammar

The first word of verse (4:81) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A resumption particle, verb and subject pronoun. The connective particle wa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person masculine plural and is in the indicative mood (مرفوع). The verb's triliteral root is qāf wāw lām (ق و ل). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.

And they say,

فعل مضارع والواو ضمير متصل في محل رفع فاعل

Verse (4:81)

The analysis above refers to the 81st verse of chapter 4 (sūrat l-nisāa):

Sahih International: And they say, "[We pledge] obedience." But when they leave you, a group of them spend the night determining to do other than what you say. But Allah records what they plan by night. So leave them alone and rely upon Allah. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.
