Verse (4:3), Word 7 - Quranic Grammar

The seventh word of verse (4:3) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A result particle, verb and subject pronoun. The result particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate the result of a condition. The imperative verb (فعل أمر) is second person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is nūn kāf ḥā (ن ك ح). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.

Verse (4:3)

The analysis above refers to the third verse of chapter 4 (sūrat l-nisāa):

Sahih International: And if you fear that you will not deal justly with the orphan girls, then marry those that please you of [other] women, two or three or four. But if you fear that you will not be just, then [marry only] one or those your right hand possesses. That is more suitable that you may not incline [to injustice].
