Verse (4:32), Word 18 - Quranic Grammar

The eighteenth word of verse (4:32) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A resumption particle, verb and subject pronoun. The connective particle wa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The imperative verb (فعل أمر) is second person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is sīn hamza lām (س أ ل). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.

Sahih International: And do not wish for that by which Allah has made some of you exceed others. For men is a share of what they have earned, and for women is a share of what they have earned. And ask Allah of his bounty. Indeed Allah is ever, of all things, Knowing.
