Verse (45:17), Word 1 - Quranic Grammar

The first word of verse (45:17) is divided into 4 morphological segments. A conjunction, verb, subject pronoun and object pronoun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The form IV perfect verb (فعل ماض) is first person plural. The verb's triliteral root is hamza tā yā (أ ت ي). The suffix (نا) is an attached subject pronoun. Verse (45:17)

The analysis above refers to the seventeenth verse of chapter 45 (sūrat l-jāthiyah):

Sahih International: And We gave them clear proofs of the matter [of religion]. And they did not differ except after knowledge had come to them - out of jealous animosity between themselves. Indeed, your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they used to differ.
