Verse (45:16), Word 4 - Quranic Grammar

__

The fourth word of verse (45:16) is a proper noun in the genitive case (مجرور). The case marker is a fatḥah instead of a kasrah because the proper noun is a diptote (ممنوع من الصرف).

Chapter (45) sūrat l-jāthiyah (Crouching)

(45:16:4)
is'rāīla
(the) Children of Israel
PN – genitive proper noun → Israel اسم علم مجرور بالفتحة بدلاً من الكسرة لأنه ممنوع من الصرف

Verse (45:16)

The analysis above refers to the sixteenth verse of chapter 45 (sūrat l-jāthiyah):

Sahih International: And We did certainly give the Children of Israel the Scripture and judgement and prophethood, and We provided them with good things and preferred them over the worlds.
