Verse (41:16), Word 8 - Quranic Grammar

The eighth word of verse (41:16) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A particle of purpose, verb and object pronoun. The prefixed particle lām is used to indicate the purpose of an action and makes the following verb subjunctive. The form IV imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is first person plural and is in the subjunctive mood (منصوب). The verb's triliteral root is dhāl wāw qāf (ذ و ق). The attached object pronoun is third person masculine plural.

Verse (41:16)

The analysis above refers to the sixteenth verse of chapter 41 (sūrat fuṣṣilat):

Sahih International: So We sent upon them a screaming wind during days of misfortune to make them taste the punishment of disgrace in the worldly life; but the punishment of the Hereafter is more disgracing, and they will not be helped.
