Verse (3:75), Word 20 - Quranic Grammar

The twentieth word of verse (3:75) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A verb and subject pronoun. The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is second person masculine singular. The verb's triliteral root is dāl wāw mīm (د و م). The verb (دام) belongs to a special group of words known as kāna and her sisters (كان واخواتها). The suffix (التاء) is an attached subject pronoun.

Verse (3:75)

The analysis above refers to the 75th verse of chapter 3 (sūrat āl ʿim'rān):

Sahih International: And among the People of the Scripture is he who, if you entrust him with a great amount [of wealth], he will return it to you. And among them is he who, if you entrust him with a [single] silver coin, he will not return it to you unless you are constantly standing over him [demanding it]. That is because they say, "There is no blame upon us concerning the unlearned." And they speak untruth about Allah while they know [it].
