Verse (3:31), Word 6 - Quranic Grammar

The sixth word of verse (3:31) is divided into 4 morphological segments. A result particle, verb, subject pronoun and object pronoun. The result particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate the result of a condition. The form VIII imperative verb (فعل أمر) is second person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is tā bā ʿayn (ت ب ع). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun. The attached object pronoun is first person singular.

Sahih International: Say, [O Muhammad], "If you should love Allah , then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."
