Verse (39:3), Word 13 - Quranic Grammar

The thirteenth word of verse (39:3) is divided into 4 morphological segments. A particle of purpose, verb, subject pronoun and object pronoun. The prefixed particle lām is used to indicate the purpose of an action and makes the following verb subjunctive. The form II imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person masculine plural and is in the subjunctive mood (منصوب). The verb's triliteral root is qāf rā bā (ق ر ب). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun. The attached object pronoun is first person plural.

Verse (39:3)

The analysis above refers to the third verse of chapter 39 (sūrat l-zumar):

Sahih International: Unquestionably, for Allah is the pure religion. And those who take protectors besides Him [say], "We only worship them that they may bring us nearer to Allah in position." Indeed, Allah will judge between them concerning that over which they differ. Indeed, Allah does not guide he who is a liar and [confirmed] disbeliever.
