Verse (37:59), Word 6 - Quranic Grammar


The sixth word of verse (37:59) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A preposition and passive participle. The prefixed preposition bi is usually translated as "with" or "by". The form II passive participle is masculine plural and is in the genitive case (مجرور). The passive participle's triliteral root is ʿayn dhāl bā (ع ذ ب). The Arabic term for "passive participle" is اسم مفعول

The term مجهول is only used in reference to verbs.
