Verse (37:1), Word 1 - Quranic Grammar

__

The first word of verse (37:1) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A preposition and active participle. The prefixed preposition wa is usually translated as "by" and is used to form an oath. The active participle is feminine plural and is in the genitive case (مجرور). The active participle's triliteral root is ṣād fā fā (ص ف ف). Together the segments form a preposition phrase known as jār wa majrūr (جار ومجرور).
