The word "ma" here can be translated in either of two ways: 1. as a negative particle (above) or as an ism (nominal), meaning "what". (Please refer to the English translations by Muhammad Sarwar and Arberry on this ayah). My question to Kais is, how can this alternative understanding of the ayah be reflected?
