Verse (2:93), Word 15 - Quranic Grammar

The fifteenth word of verse (2:93) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A resumption particle, verb and subject pronoun. The connective particle wa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The passive form IV perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is shīn rā bā (ش ر ب). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.

Verse (2:93)

Sahih International: And [recall] when We took your covenant and raised over you the mount, [saying], "Take what We have given you with determination and listen." They said [instead], "We hear and disobey." And their hearts absorbed [the worship of] the calf because of their disbelief. Say, "How wretched is that which your faith enjoins upon you, if you should be believers."
