Verse (2:23), Word 9 - Quranic Grammar

The ninth word of verse (2:23) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A result particle, verb and subject pronoun. The result particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate the result of a condition. The imperative verb (فعل أمر) is second person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is hamza tā yā (أ ت ي). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.

Sahih International: And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant [Muhammad], then produce a Surah the like thereof and call upon your witnesses other than Allah , if you should be truthful.
