Verse (25:20), Word 13 - Quranic Grammar

The thirteenth word of verse (25:20) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A conjunction, verb and subject pronoun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is first person plural. The verb's triliteral root is jīm ʿayn lām (ج ع ل). The suffix (نا) is an attached subject pronoun.

Verse (25:20)

The analysis above refers to the twentieth verse of chapter 25 (sūrat l-fur'qān):

Sahih International: And We did not send before you, [O Muhammad], any of the messengers except that they ate food and walked in the markets. And We have made some of you [people] as trial for others - will you have patience? And ever is your Lord, Seeing.
