Verse (24:47), Word 1 - Quranic Grammar

The first word of verse (24:47) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A conjunction, verb and subject pronoun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person masculine plural and is in the indicative mood (مرفوع). The verb's triliteral root is qāf wāw lām (ق و ل). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.

Verse (24:47)

The analysis above refers to the 47th verse of chapter 24 (sūrat l-nūr):

Sahih International: But the hypocrites say, "We have believed in Allah and in the Messenger, and we obey"; then a party of them turns away after that. And those are not believers.
