Verse (24:28), Word 15 - Quranic Grammar

The fifteenth word of verse (24:28) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A resumption particle, verb and subject pronoun. The connective particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The imperative verb (فعل أمر) is second person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is rā jīm ʿayn (ر ج ع). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.

Sahih International: And if you do not find anyone therein, do not enter them until permission has been given you. And if it is said to you, "Go back," then go back; it is purer for you. And Allah is Knowing of what you do.
