Verse (22:2), Word 8 - Quranic Grammar

The eighth word of verse (22:2) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A conjunction and verb. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person feminine singular and is in the indicative mood (مرفوع). The verb's triliteral root is wāw ḍād ʿayn (و ض ع).

Sahih International: On the Day you see it every nursing mother will be distracted from that [child] she was nursing, and every pregnant woman will abort her pregnancy, and you will see the people [appearing] intoxicated while they are not intoxicated; but the punishment of Allah is severe.
