Verse (20:86), Word 8 - Quranic Grammar

The eighth word of verse (20:86) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A vocative particle, noun and possessive pronoun. The noun is masculine and is in the accusative case (منصوب). The noun's triliteral root is qāf wāw mīm (ق و م). The of the first person singular possessive pronoun has been omitted due to elision (الياء محذوفة), and is indicated by the kasrah.

Sahih International: So Moses returned to his people, angry and grieved. He said, "O my people, did your Lord not make you a good promise? Then, was the time [of its fulfillment] too long for you, or did you wish that wrath from your Lord descend upon you, so you broke your promise [of obedience] to me?"
