Verse (20:117), Word 1 - Quranic Grammar

The first word of verse (20:117) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A resumption particle, verb and subject pronoun. The connective particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is first person plural. The verb's triliteral root is qāf wāw lām (ق و ل). The suffix (نا) is an attached subject pronoun.

Sahih International: So We said, "O Adam, indeed this is an enemy to you and to your wife. Then let him not remove you from Paradise so you would suffer.
