Verse (19:8), Word 7 - Quranic Grammar

The seventh word of verse (19:8) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A circumstantial particle and verb. The connective particle wa is usually translated as "while" and is used to indicate the circumstance of events. The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person feminine singular. The verb's triliteral root is kāf wāw nūn (ك و ن). The verb (كانت) belongs to a special group of words known as kāna and her sisters (كان واخواتها).
