Verse (19:58), Word 18 - Quranic Grammar

__

The eighteenth word of verse (19:58) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A conjunction and proper noun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The proper noun is in the genitive case (مجرور). The case marker is a fatḥah instead of a kasrah because the proper noun is a diptote (ممنوع من الصرف).

Verse (19:58)

The analysis above refers to the 58th verse of chapter 19 (sūrat maryam):

Sahih International: Those were the ones upon whom Allah bestowed favor from among the prophets of the descendants of Adam and of those We carried [in the ship] with Noah, and of the descendants of Abraham and Israel, and of those whom We guided and chose. When the verses of the Most Merciful were recited to them, they fell in prostration and weeping.
