Verse (18:82), Word 11 - Quranic Grammar

The eleventh word of verse (18:82) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A preposition and personal pronoun. The prefixed preposition lām is usually translated as "for". The personal pronoun is third person dual. Together the segments form a preposition phrase known as jār wa majrūr (جار ومجرور).

Verse (18:82)

The analysis above refers to the 82nd verse of chapter 18 (sūrat l-kahf):

Sahih International: And as for the wall, it belonged to two orphan boys in the city, and there was beneath it a treasure for them, and their father had been righteous. So your Lord intended that they reach maturity and extract their treasure, as a mercy from your Lord. And I did it not of my own accord. That is the interpretation of that about which you could not have patience."
