Verse (18:18), Word 1 - Quranic Grammar

The first word of verse (18:18) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A conjunction, verb and object pronoun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is second person masculine singular and is in the indicative mood (مرفوع). The verb's triliteral root is ḥā sīn bā (ح س ب). Verse (18:18)

Sahih International: And you would think them awake, while they were asleep. And We turned them to the right and to the left, while their dog stretched his forelegs at the entrance. If you had looked at them, you would have turned from them in flight and been filled by them with terror.
