Verse (18:12), Word 2 - Quranic Grammar

The second word of verse (18:12) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A verb, subject pronoun and object pronoun. The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is first person plural. The verb's triliteral root is bā ʿayn thā (ب ع ث). The suffix (نا) is an attached subject pronoun. The attached object pronoun is third person masculine plural.

Sahih International: Then We awakened them that We might show which of the two factions was most precise in calculating what [extent] they had remained in time.
