Verse (16:94), Word 6 - Quranic Grammar

The sixth word of verse (16:94) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A particle of cause and verb. The prefixed particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so". The particle is used to indicate cause and makes the following verb subjunctive. The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person feminine singular and is in the subjunctive mood (منصوب). The verb's triliteral root is zāy lām lām (ز ل ل).

Sahih International: And do not take your oaths as [means of] deceit between you, lest a foot slip after it was [once] firm, and you would taste evil [in this world] for what [people] you diverted from the way of Allah , and you would have [in the Hereafter] a great punishment.
