Verse (14:21), Word 4 - Quranic Grammar

The fourth word of verse (14:21) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A resumption particle and verb. The connective particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine singular. The verb's triliteral root is qāf wāw lām (ق و ل).

Verse (14:21)

The analysis above refers to the 21st verse of chapter 14 (sūrat ib'rāhīm):

Sahih International: And they will come out [for judgement] before Allah all together, and the weak will say to those who were arrogant, "Indeed, we were your followers, so can you avail us anything against the punishment of Allah ?" They will say, "If Allah had guided us, we would have guided you. It is all the same for us whether we show intolerance or are patient: there is for us no place of escape."
