Verse (13:17), Word 30 - Quranic Grammar

The 30th word of verse (13:17) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A resumption particle and verb. The connective particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person masculine singular and is in the indicative mood (مرفوع). The verb's triliteral root is dhāl hā bā (ذ ه ب).

Verse (13:17)

The analysis above refers to the seventeenth verse of chapter 13 (sūrat l-raʿd):

Sahih International: He sends down from the sky, rain, and valleys flow according to their capacity, and the torrent carries a rising foam. And from that [ore] which they heat in the fire, desiring adornments and utensils, is a foam like it. Thus Allah presents [the example of] truth and falsehood. As for the foam, it vanishes, [being] cast off; but as for that which benefits the people, it remains on the earth. Thus does Allah present examples.
