Verse (12:67), Word 26 - Quranic Grammar

The 26th word of verse (12:67) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A resumption particle, imperative particle and verb. The connective particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "let" and is used to form an imperative construction. The form V imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person masculine singular and is in the jussive mood (مجزوم). The verb's triliteral root is wāw kāf lām (و ك ل).

Sahih International: And he said, "O my sons, do not enter from one gate but enter from different gates; and I cannot avail you against [the decree of] Allah at all. The decision is only for Allah ; upon Him I have relied, and upon Him let those who would rely [indeed] rely."
