Verse (12:19), Word 5 - Quranic Grammar

The fifth word of verse (12:19) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A resumption particle and verb. The connective particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The form IV perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine singular. Sahih International: And there came a company of travelers; then they sent their water drawer, and he let down his bucket. He said, "Good news! Here is a boy." And they concealed him, [taking him] as merchandise; and Allah was knowing of what they did.
